You will also require a profile created using the Watcher application. If you do not already have one, see the following article for instructions on how to make one:
Add a new network connection
- Select Finder > Applications >System Preferences > Network. This should open the Network window, which allows you to control the network devices on your computer.
- Select Network port configuration from the Show drop-down list to access a list of your network components.
- Verify that the Port Configuration for the device called Mini Card or AirCard is checked off as show in the image below and click Apply Now.
- Select Minicard from the Show drop-down list.
- Select the PPP tab.
- Complete the fields using the profile information provided by your service provider. Contact your service provider if you do not know your profile information. The following example image shows a completed PPP tab.
For AT&T users only:Service Provider: AT&T
Account Name: leave this field blank
Password: leave this field blank
Telephone Number: *99#
Alternate Number: leave this field blank - Check the Save Password box if you do not want to enter this information every time you access the Internet.
- Click Apply now.
- Select the TCP/IP tab.
- Select Using PPP in the Ipv4 drop-down list.
- Click the Modem tab.
- Select NM UNIVERSAL MODEM from the list of devices in the Modem drop-down list.
- Ensure that the Wait for dial tone before dialing box is NOT checked.
- Click Apply Now.
The following image shows a properly completed Modem tab. - Select the PPP tab.
- Click Dial Now. The Internet Connect window will appear; you may need to re-type your Profile information.
- Click Connect.
You should now have a connection to the Internet. Open your browser software to confirm your connection.
Note:
Advanced users may download and use the Zterm application to configure the APN on the modem.
- Open Zterm.
- Select the Minicard or Aircard port.
- Send the following command: at+cgdcont=1,”IP”,”apn.com”; where apn.com is the APN for your Service Provider.
