Answers
- How much does it cost?
We strongly recommend that users check with their mobile carrier before starting to use the the internet from their cell phone tethered to a computer. Without a data plan, carriers often charge based on usage of the connection, metered per kilobyte. Signing up for a data package with your carrier will be much less expensive in the long term than paying based on usage. We have gathered links to specific information on data plans at major mobile carriers here. - These settings are not working!
Mobile carriers continue to make changes in their service offerings, and some setups may require modifications in these instances. We continue to update information on our site based on the best information available – if you are experiencing issues, please let us know! - Is using a Bluetooth or USB connection better?
For many of the instructions on this site we have used the a USB cable, as this seemed to be the most stable and reliable method. It is possible to connect using Bluetooth 2.0 enabled computers after successfully pairing with the phone and setting up the device. We have experienced many problems with Bluetooth 1.0, and encountered many errors and lost data due to lower bandwidth than the 3G connection of the mobile phone. - Where do I get a USB cable?
There are many USB cables available, below are a few choices we found that should work nicely for any phone with a mini USB port.
